Faith Statement
WE BELIEVE…
GOD IS… Creator and Ruler of the universe. He exists eternally in three personalities: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—one God in three persons. (see Genesis 1:1, 26, 27; 1 Peter 1:2; 2 Corinthians 13:14)
JESUS CHRIST IS… the Son of God who lived a sinless life and offered himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all people by dying on a cross. He arose from the dead demonstrating power over death. He now rules and reigns as King of Kings in the lives of believers and is head of the church. (see Isaiah 9:6, John 1:1-5; Acts 1:9-11; Hebrews 4:14-15)
HOLY SPIRIT IS… part of the triune nature of God. He is present in the world to turn us toward Jesus Christ and resides in the life of the Christian, providing supernatural guidance. (see 2 Corinthians 3:17; Acts 1:8, 2:38-40; Ephesians 1:13-14)
THE BIBLE IS… the divinely preserved and inspired Word of God, and the source of truth, faith, and practice for believers. (see 2 Timothy 3:16, 2 Peter 1:20-21)
MANKIND IS… made in the spiritual image of God and the object of God’s creation and divine love. Sin causes separation between mankind and God, but God has provided a way of restoration through his Son, Jesus Christ. (see Genesis 1:27; Isaiah 59:1-2; Romans 3:23)
SALVATION IS… by God’s grace through faith in Jesus Christ. By trusting in the gospel of Christ, repenting of sins, and being baptized into the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, believers are promised eternity with the Father. (see Acts 2:38-40; Romans 6:23; Ephesians 2:8-9)
ETERNITY IS… how long we were designed to exist with God. One will either exist eternally separated from God by sin or in union with God because of Christ has accomplished. Eternal separation is identified as hell. Heaven is an eternal place for those who accept the gospel. (John 3:16; 1 John 2:25, 5:11-13; Revelation 20:15)
THE CHURCH IS… described as the body of Christ. It is a community of believers that exists to reach those that do not know Christ and to disciple believers. Jesus Christ will one day return for the church, which will begin eternity. (see Matthew 28:18-20; Acts 2:38; 1 Corinthians 12:27; Ephesians 4:11-14)
